Jamberry Nails Giveaway

Last month I became an independent consultant with Jamberry Nails. I'm loving them! Before I signed up, I tried out some sample shields. Here's some pictures of that process:

Realizing that they held up that well was one of the reasons I signed up- the other being I met a lady who also wanted to join and 2 days after I signed up, she became my first team member! Anyway, I wanted to share this exciting business with any readers I might have still... So, if you'd like to see more pictures & keep up to date with my specials and things, go like my Facebook page. I'm doing a giveaway right now, so go check it out! And if you want to shop from my Jamberry, store, visit my website: http://store.jamberrynails.com

These are a great way to have your toes ready for summer!!! Here's my current promo:

Hope you can join in the nail revolution!!

One Year has Passed- Remembering Deacon & More

I know many of you have prayed for the family of Deacon deGarmeaux during the past year. I'm sure if Monica or Gabe could tell you thank you, they would.  Monica posted this on Facebook today:
‎1 year...it seems like a life time since I've held my baby boy and yet at the same time this year has passed by in a blur. God has blessed, and stretched, comforted, and grown me, felt close and felt very far...I have literally felt carried by the grace of God and the prayers of loved ones and strangers. My heart still constantly aches, missing Deacon but I so thankful to believe with all that I am that God is good and He has good things in store for me and my family...pain and joy, pain and joy...

Recently, a family in our church family lost their 11 month old daughter who had been battling cancer. Both of these situations are hard reminders that every day with our children (or anyone we love) are precious. Yet as I watched both of these families, they continued to trust in the Lord for their strength.   I know that Deacon's mother as well as Hudson's mother were both excellent stewards of their children in the time the Lord granted them. They have both been able to offer praise to God even through these difficult times. What a testimony to God's peace that He offers us. I'm so thankful that they can grieve as those who have hope!

Lord, I pray that you will comfort Jen, Monica, Vicki and Beth as well as other mothers who have had children die before them. I also pray for all the mothers who have lost children before they were able to hold them in their arms through miscarriages. Lord, thank you that you offer peace to us all. Help us to identify with your suffering through these situations. Help all of us to love our children well today and praise you. May you be glorified in how we grieve and how we live.

Win Cereal & Atari Prize Pack

If you know me at all, you probably know of my love for cereal (and milk of course!). So, when I saw this giveaway for 2 boxes of cereal (ok, and the Target Gift card got me interested too), I had to enter so I'm sharing this info with you. Ok, I admit it, I'm sharing only because it increases my chances of winning- sort of... b/c if you enter you lessen my chances, but maybe you'll share your cereal so I still win. :) haha Ok, seriously, check it out.

Update on Deacon's Family

Since I shared with my readers about the loss of our son's friend last March(click here to read it), I also thought I'd pass on this update posted on another blog. I know I've had many of you ask me as well about the family, so I hope this helps give you some more insight into how they are doing. Thanks for continuing to keep them in your prayers.

Here's the update.

Columbus Busy Bag Swap for Preschool Age

This Swap is now closed. Stay tuned in October to see what we get!

I recently read about a group of people doing a busy bag swap and thought I'd try having a swap locally to cut down on costs (no postage required). So if you want to have a variety of activities for your preschool aged child to do, here's how it works:
  1. The swap will include up to 30 swappers which means up to 30 activities for you to take home. If you are interested in participating, look over the activities below and select your top 3 choices. Or if you have another idea of your own, you can submit that as well. The idea is to select a project that can be done for $1 or less per bag so look around your house and see what things you already have available to you as you select an activity.
  2. Tell your local friends about this!
  3. By September 10th I will e-mail you with your assignment. If you have not heard from me by then, please comment here to notify me after checking your spam folder.
  4. You will have until September 25 to complete your 30 packets. You can drop your packets off at Veritas Community Church (325 2nd Ave Columbus) Thursday, September 22 from 12-3 or Sunday, September 25 from 8-12 or if you know me, you can give it to me. All packets must be submitted by 12 pm on Sunday September 25th.
  5. I will sort the sets and they will be available for pick up by October 2nd.
Here are some ideas from Unsolicited Advice's Busy Bag Swap:

Shapes & Colors
--Shape Hunt & Sort
-- I Have, Who Has Game
(That's a lot of printing, but the game looks so fun. Wonder if you could play the game with just half the number of cards?)
--Double Trouble Shape Match
--Popsicle Color Match
(Make it with felt rather than paper to make it withstand the use of small children)
--Pom Pom Patterns
--Roll-a-Cise

 Numbers/Counting/Early Math
-- Number Wheel
 --Five Fabulous Frogs
(Can use any object and you can make your own sorting mats on smaller sheets of paper)
--Measure It
--Laminated Numeber Tracing Cards and a WASHABLE crayon or dry erase marker
(To keep the cost down, maybe you could just do one page, the numbers 1-12. If you use a crayon, it must be a Crayola washable crayon or it will not wipe off.)
--Felt Number Tiles and Bug Counting Cards

Alphabet
--Any of these alphabet activities from Confessions of a Homeschooler
--Felt Letter Tiles and Alphabet Tile Cards

Just for Fun
--Playdough and Play Mat(s)
(Some ideas: Number MatsLetter MatsShape Mats look under "shapes", Berry Pie MatCarrot Planting,Facial Expressions, Feeding Giraffe, )
--Felt Cupcake Decorating
--Clothesline
--Spooning Beads
--Felt Snowflake Builder
(For the board, you can simply glue a sheet of felt to cardstock)
